Hammers watch- How did West Ham’s players on international duty fare?

Several West Ham players were called up to their respective international sides during the fortnightly break following the Hammers’ loss to Brighton at the Amex.

Marko Arnautovic: Manuel Pellegrini would’ve probably preferred his talismanic striker to have had a much needed break to get over his niggles. But he played the full 90 for Austria on Friday night against Northern Ireland, and also scored the winner for Franco Foda’s side in Vienna.

Arnautovic did not play in Austria’s loss to Denmark on the 16th of October as part of a deal between the club and the Austrian FA to manage his knee injury. [Read more…]

This was always going to be a tough fixture- West Ham had lost more Premier League games to Arsenal than any other side, which meant that the Gunners were strong favourites coming into this Round 3 clash, despite themselves losing to Man City and Chelsea. All the pundits had backed Arsenal to win, and win they did, on the back of an impressive second half performance following the introductions of Alexandre Lacazette and Lucas Torreira into the game.
