Media Player Ratings- How did the media rate West Ham’s performance against Arsenal?

This was always going to be a tough fixture- West Ham had lost more Premier League games to Arsenal than any other side, which meant that the Gunners were strong favourites coming into this Round 3 clash, despite themselves losing to Man City and Chelsea. All the pundits had backed Arsenal to win, and win they did, on the back of an impressive second half performance following the introductions of Alexandre Lacazette and Lucas Torreira into the game.

For West Ham, it was a much improved performance- Felipe Anderson probably had his best game since arriving at the London Stadium, and fans may have noticed that it came in a more central role, rather than being on the left wing, as he was against Liverpool and Bournemouth.

How did Issa Diop play on his West Ham debut? The young Frenchman, one of four changes into the XI, didn’t exactly have the greatest of games, as reflected in his ratings- he was the poorest of West Ham’s back four across all the ratings we’ve put together.

However another change, right back Ryan Fredericks impressed after a poor opening game against Liverpool.

Fredericks, Fabianski and Anderson were the top three performers for West Ham in this game. However while ex Arsenal player Fabianski had a good game, the same couldn’t be said for Jack Wilshere. His midfield partner, Carlos Sanchez, had the greatest variation in ratings- one thought he was just below Anderson, while another rated him even below Wilshere.
