More Premier League losses to Arsenal than any other side- H2H stats ahead of West Ham’s Round 3 game

West Ham will be looking to avoid a third straight Premier League defeat under Manuel Pellegrini when they visit the Emirates to take on Arsenal this weekend. The H2H stats between the two teams in the Premier League doesn’t make for great reading though- here are some of them ahead of this Saturday afternoon clash.

West Ham Premier League record against Arsenal

Played 44- Won 7, Drawn 9, Lost 28

In the modern Premier League era, West Ham have lost MORE to Arsenal than any other side.

Goal scoring woes

Amongst all teams that they have played 40 times or more in the Premier League, West Ham have scored the FEWEST goals against Arsenal (31 goals in 44 games)

In 180 minutes of league football so far in the 2018/19 season, the Hammers have only managed to find the back of the net once, and that too from the penalty spot.

Arsenal looked fluent against Chelsea in the first half- the Gunners scored two, but there were many more good goal scoring opportunities that they squandered. It ended 3-2 in favour of Chelsea, but Unai Emery’s side could’ve easily won the game if the likes of Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan weren’t wasteful in front of goal.

H2H in the last decade

The last 10 years have been overwhelmingly in Arsenal’s favour. In the last decade, the only West Ham league win against the Gunners came on the opening weekend of the 2015/16 season, when Slaven Bilic’s side won 2-0 thanks to goals from Cheikhou Kouyate and Mauro Zarate, neither of whom are at West Ham now.

West Ham’s Premier League games away at Arsenal in the last decade- results

Arsenal 4-1 West Ham
Arsenal 3-0 West Ham
Arsenal 0-2 West Ham
Arsenal 3-0 West Ham
Arsenal 3-1 West Ham
Arsenal 5-1 West Ham
Arsenal 1-0 West Ham
Arsenal 2-0 West Ham
Arsenal 0-0 West Ham
Arsenal 2-0 West Ham

Most pundits have backed Arsenal to secure a comfortable victory over the Hammers, and given these stats, you can’t really blame them.
