Media Player Ratings- How did West Ham’s players fare against Brighton (H) 2017

Brighton picked up their first away win of the new league season and their first on the road in the top flight since 1983 as they beat West Ham 3-0 last night in front of a 56,977 strong crowd at the London Stadium.

Here is how West Ham’s players were rated by the media. Sam Inkersole opted to give out one word ratings for each player instead of a number this time around.

Not surprisingly, the player who came in for the most flak was Marko Arnautovic, with the £25m signing expected to give the ageing Bruno a torrid time, but the Austrian international ended up having a very ordinary game, and was hooked before the third goal for Edimilson Fernandes. [Read more…]

West Ham v Brighton & Hove Albion- Friday clash at the London Stadium

Friday’s solitary Premier League clash sees West Ham host newbies Brighton at the London Stadium.

This is the third time West Ham have played a top flight fixture at home on a Friday, and encouragingly for their fans, both of those fixtures (against Coventry back in 1997 and against Spurs last season) ended in wins. The Hammers have lost only one of their last five games in all competitions, and coach Slaven Bilic will definitely be looking at this clash against the Seagulls as a great opportunity to put three points in the bag. Joe Hart becomes third highest capped England goalkeeper against Slovenia

Joe Hart now has more England caps than the legendary Gordon Banks! Hart achieved the feat earlier today evening in England’s World Cup qualifier against Slovenia at Wembley. He earned his 74th cap, thus overtaking Gordon Banks (73). Only David Seaman (75) and Peter Shilton (125) have more England caps than the West Ham goalkeeper. [Read more…]

Here is a small table that shows ratings for West Ham’s players for their game against Swansea on 30 September, 2017, as compiled from various media sources. Not surprisingly, substitutes Diafra Sakho and Arthur Masuaku have been rated highly for their contributions, while Mark Noble didn’t exactly crown himself in glory, according to the pundits.
