Bristol Rovers vs West Ham U21 2017- Martinez brace seals Checkatrade Trophy progress

Toni Martinez’s brace sealed West Ham’s passage into the knockout rounds of the Checkatrade Trophy as they came from behind to beat Bristol Rovers 3-1 last night.

The Spaniard, who had scored a hat trick against Manchester United in a Premier League 2 fixture in October, netted on either side of Martin Samuelsen’s 51st minute effort after Tom Nichols had put the home side ahead almost immediately after kick off.

The young Hammers had beaten Swindon Town 3-2 back in August, with the Robins now set to take on Rovers in a winnner-takes all clash next week. [Read more…]

West Ham Player Ratings vs Crystal Palace (A) 2017

Here is how West Ham’s players performed at Selhurst Park over the weekend against Crystal Palace- compiled from various media sources. The Hammers squandered a 2-0 lead and a big opportunity to register their first away league win of the season to draw 2-2 with the Eagles.

Crystal Palace vs West Ham Post Match Thoughts- Antonio Brain freeze costs Hammers

Michail Antonio’s last minute brain freeze cost West Ham dearly as they missed out on a golden opportunity to pick up their first away win of the 2017/18 Premier League season. The Hammers, 2-0 up at half time against arguably the worst team in the PL, paid the price for some questionable tactics and lack of composure as Wilfried Zaha, who had never scored against the visitors before this fixture, snatched an equaliser for the Eagles deep into second half stoppage time. Palace, who had taken only 3 points from 9 games going into this clash, opted for a 4-4-2, with ex West Ham player James Tomkins taking the place of the injured Mamadou Sakho in defence and Reuben Loftus-Cheek in for James McArthur. In the absence of Christian Benteke, manager Roy Hodgson [Read more…]

Hammers to play Arsenal in the quarterfinals of the Carabao Cup

West Ham’s reward for upsetting Spurs at Wembley is an away game at Arsenal after the Hammers were drawn against the Gunners in the last eight of the Carabao Cup.

The draw, supposed to be streamed live from Twitter UK’s headquarters, was delayed for nearly two hours, and eventually presented in the form of a pre-recorded video. The Premier League’s big four, surprise surprise, don’t meet each other in the last eight!
