This game last season- West Bromwich Albion 4-2 West Ham United (2016-17)

Ahead of this weekend’s game at the Hawthorns, we take a look at what happened in the corresponding fixture last season. This fixture will take place on the 16th of September, 2017- last season’s took place on the 17th of September, 2016.

West Brom powered themselves to a 4-0 lead by the hour mark, with Nacer Chadli netting a double (including one penalty) and Salomon Randon and James McClean also getting on the scoresheet, as the Baggies registered their first home win since March.

Player news ahead of Albion game- Arnautovic back, Noble & Lanzini to sit out

Marko Arnautovic is available for selection for this weekend’s game against West Bromwich Albion after serving his three game ban (he was red carded against Southampton for elbowing Stephens, which many fans regard as a reason for them losing that fixture to Saints).

However Bilic also revealed that Mark Noble’s knee has not fully healed and the Albion game will come too soon for him, with Bolton looking like a more achievable return target for the veteran midfielder. [Read more…]

Sullivan- Bilic turned down chance to sign Renato Sanches and Grzegorz Krychowiak

In a startling revelation, West Ham owner David Sullivan has revealed that manager Slaven Bilic turned down the option to sign Renato Sanches and Grzegorz Krychowiak at the end of the recently concluded summer transfer window.

Sanches was eventually loaned to Swansea (Swans boss Paul Clement was Carlo Ancelotti’s No.2 for several years) while Krychowiak signed for West Bromwich Albion, both clubs the Hammers would expect to finish above this season. However West Ham’s own pursuit of William Carvalho went awry, with Sporting director also calling Sullivan a liar on Facebook.

Hammers to sue Sporting director?

West Ham are suing Sporting Lisbon director Nuno Saraiva for libel after the latter released a statement saying that David Sullivan had “lied” regarding bids made for William Carvalho.

West Ham, on their part, say that on August 10, they did make a 23 million pound bid for Carvalho (to be paid over three years), with additional add-ons to be discussed.
