No Guti Deal For West Ham

Spanish veteran midfielder Guti who has been on trial at West Ham has announced his retirement instead of pitting his wits in The Premiership for The Hammers.

35 year old Guti had been training with West Ham since his release from Turkish side Besiktas and was available as a free agent.

Guti made over 500 appearances for Real Madrid and was part of their Galicticos squad of players which included Zidane, Ronaldo (The Fat Brazilian one), Beckham, Raul etc and spent 15 years of his career with them.

It looked like he was set to link up with West Ham but it now looks to have gone sour with the player telling Spanish newspaper AS that he is set to retire and take up a coaching role instead.

Friday Transfer Update

Not much to bring you today as it’s been a bit quite the last few days regarding inbound transfers, but here are the main rumours circling the web today.

William Gallas

The Sun reports that Tottenham’s veteran could be on this way out of White Hart Lane and pitching up at Upton Park.

Gallas, who is 34, would be available on a free transfer and is deemed surplus to requirements at WHL. This is backed up by the fact the club have been trying to sign Belgium defender Jan Vertonghen.

Sam Allardyce has been desperate to add more experience and options at centre back since the club has been promoted.

Clarence Seedorf

Not sure about this one personally but, The Sun are also reporting the Dutch legend that is Clarence Seedorf is also wanted by Big Sam, who is a long-term admirer of the veteran midfielder.

Seedorf, who is now 36, has made it clear he would like to play in the Premier League before retiring.

Modibo Maiga

The Daily Mail is suggesting West Ham have made a £5million bid for Sochaux striker Modibo Maiga.

However, it looks like we will have a fight on our hands with Southampton and Stoke who are also rumoured to be interested in the forward.

Maynard’s Delight

West Ham United’s new striker Nicky Maynard is ‘ecstatic’ after managing to seal a late deal to join us on transfer deadline day.

The 25-year-old was the subject of a lot of interest in the January window after netting 46 times since joining Bristol City in 2008, even turning down a move to Premiership side Wigan Athletic.

The prolific centre-forward left Ashton Gate on Tuesday night after signing a two-and-a-half-year contract with the Irons.

Maynard who has 81 goals on his professional tally, has a proven goalscoring record and is eager to get his career underway at The Boleyn Ground.

“I’m ecstatic,” he told West Hams Official Website. “It’s been a long day but I’m delighted to put pen to paper and can’t wait to get going.

Over The Moon

“West Ham are a massive club. They’ve got everything geared to get to the Premier League and the Premier League is where I want to be.

“I’m a quick player who likes to get behind and thrives off chances. I’ll keep plugging away all game as I’m not happy unless I’m scoring.”

Maynard enjoyed a schoolboy spell with Arsenal before moving to the Crewe Alexandra academy where he graduated and went on to score 35 goals in 67 appearances for the Railwaymen.

Despite Bristols poor form this season Maynard has still managed to bag eight goals.

Official: Hammers Nick Maynard From Bristol

West Ham United have captured striker Nicky Maynard from Bristol City for an undisclosed fee.

Maynard has signed a two and a half year deal – with an option for an extra year – with the Hammers, was one of the most sought-after players in English football after a prolific spell at Ashton Gate, where he has scored 46 goals in 130 games.

Great signing in my opinion, along with Vaz Te he will add some much needed fire power to our front line!

Official: Vaz Te Signs

West Ham United have officially completed the signing of Ricardo Vaz Te from Barsnley.

The former Portugal Under-21 international forward joins the Hammers on a two and a half year deal with an option for a third year for an undisclosed fee.

Speaking to WHUFC.com:

“I feel great. I’m very excited to work with Sam again and it’s great because I know a few players here,” he said. “I’m very thankful and excited and looking forward to it.

“I spoke to Sam on Tuesday and went to see him at his office. He told me what he’s looking for. I’m very excited and I think he’s very excited too. I’ve played with Kevin Nolan and Joey O’Brien before and I also know Neil McDonald and some of the backroom staff.

“I had a fantastic time at Barnsley. I’m very grateful for the opportunity they gave me and I hope the fans can understand why I left as West Ham is a great opportunity for me. I have a great respect and love for the Barnsley fans and I wish them the very best.”

Good news in my opinion as he definitely knows where the back of the net is, and having seen him play he looks like a tricky customer.
