His side have lost their first four games of the season, and this clash, away at Goodison Park, is shaping up to be a very important one, with Chelsea and Manchester United their next opponents after the Toffees.

Everton have won more games against West Ham than any other opponent in the Premier League.

West Ham slumped to their fourth straight league defeat of the new season as newly promoted Wolves came away from the London Stadium with all three points thanks to Adama Traore’s late winner. Despite the Hammers’ poor start to the season, few had expected Wolves to win on the road, with most pundits thinking that a draw was the best they could hope for.

West Ham made only one change from side that had lost to Arsenal, with Aaron Cresswell coming in at left back for the injured Arthur Masuaku. Cresswell, one could say, was partly at fault for Wolves’ goal, although more of the blame would probably lie at the feet of Carlos Sanchez, who got caught in possession in his own half after the home side decided to take a quick free kick.

After their midweek EFL Cup success against AFC Wimbledon, will West Ham be able to pick up their first points of the new Premier League season against Wolves? The Hammers were beaten by Unai Emery’s Arsenal last weekend while Wolves held defending champions Man City to a draw at Molineux.

Declan Rice to England? Hammers star undecided over international future

West Ham youngster Declan Rice has been left out of the latest Republic of Ireland squad, with national manager Martin O’Neill informing that the 19 year old was yet to arrive on a decision regarding his international future. Rice has three caps for Ireland at senior level, but all of them came in friendlies, which means the option of changing allegiance to England still remains open to him.

O’Neill informed that “England had spoken to Rice” regarding a potential switch, and that he was giving the versatile midfielder some time to make up his mind.

Rice was born in London, but has represented Ireland at various junior levels. He started in West Ham’s opening game of the season against Liverpool, but was hooked at half time by Manuel Pellegrini, and hasn’t featured in the club’s next two games against Bournemouth and Arsenal.

Former Republic striker Kevin Kilbane had this to say on social media site Twitter.

I’d rather be ranked 150th in the world and never qualify again than have someone who has played, but needs time to THINK whether they should play for us again
