West Ham United failed to inspire confidence for the most part of last season, eventually finishing in the bottom half of the Premier League table just one year after qualifying for the Europa League. The Dimitri Payet saga was an unwelcome distraction prior to his move back to Marseille and Slaven Bilic’s men never really recovered in what was a very disappointing campaign.
But that was then and this is now. To compete in England’s top flight, you have to spend money – it is as simple as that. One player who has attracted plenty of interest in the media this month is Bayer Leverkusen striker Javier Hernandez. The former Manchester United man is looking to move back to the Premier League and reports claim that the Mexico star has a buyout clause of just £13 million.
Over his five-year tenure at Old Trafford, ‘Chicharito’ earned a reputation as one of the best poachers in the business. He scored a number of important goals for United, helping the Red Devils win two Premier League titles during his time at the club.
