It’s a clash between two teams with high profile new managers, who are both looking for their first points of the new Premier League season after suffering defeats in their opening two games of the 2018/19 campaign.

West Ham v Brighton & Hove Albion- Friday clash at the London Stadium

Friday’s solitary Premier League clash sees West Ham host newbies Brighton at the London Stadium.

This is the third time West Ham have played a top flight fixture at home on a Friday, and encouragingly for their fans, both of those fixtures (against Coventry back in 1997 and against Spurs last season) ended in wins. The Hammers have lost only one of their last five games in all competitions, and coach Slaven Bilic will definitely be looking at this clash against the Seagulls as a great opportunity to put three points in the bag. This game last season- West Bromwich Albion 4-2 West Ham United (2016-17)

Ahead of this weekend’s game at the Hawthorns, we take a look at what happened in the corresponding fixture last season. This fixture will take place on the 16th of September, 2017- last season’s took place on the 17th of September, 2016.

West Brom powered themselves to a 4-0 lead by the hour mark, with Nacer Chadli netting a double (including one penalty) and Salomon Randon and James McClean also getting on the scoresheet, as the Baggies registered their first home win since March.

Player news ahead of Albion game- Arnautovic back, Noble & Lanzini to sit out

Marko Arnautovic is available for selection for this weekend’s game against West Bromwich Albion after serving his three game ban (he was red carded against Southampton for elbowing Stephens, which many fans regard as a reason for them losing that fixture to Saints).

However Bilic also revealed that Mark Noble’s knee has not fully healed and the Albion game will come too soon for him, with Bolton looking like a more achievable return target for the veteran midfielder. [Read more…]

Masuaku earns maiden DR Congo call up

Talented left back Arthur Masuako has earned his maiden DR Congo call up after coach Florent Ibenge named him in his 36 member squad for the country’s key qualifiers against Tunisia in September. The 23 year old has represented France at junior level (he was born in Lille), but pledged his international allegiance to DR Congo earlier this year. [Read more…]
