England edge Slovakia but Antonio does not get debut

England edged Slovakia 1-0 in Trnava last night, but West Ham’s Michail Antonio failed to make it off the bench. Sam Allardyce’s men won thanks to Adam Lallana’s goal in the 5th minute of second half extra time, with the Slovaks having been reduced to ten men following the dismissal of Martin Skrtel.

Video Edimilson Fernandes goal v Kazakhstan for Switzerland U21 2016

New West Ham signing Edimilson Fernandes scored this rather nice goal for Switzerland U21 in their game against Kazakhstan last night.

Edimilson’s goal v Kazakhstan U21 was Switzerland’s third of the night (the Swiss won 3-0) and came on 63 minutes.

The 20 year old, cousin of former Man City player Gelson Fernandes, signed for the Hammers from FC Sion on a four year deal for a reported £5m fee [Read more…]

West Ham part ways with Diego Poyet, latter target for several clubs

West Ham have parted company with young starlet Diego Poyet by mutual consent. The youngster, who was a hit at Charlton before signing in the summer of 2014 for the Hammers, played only 10 games in 2 years for the club, and never quite reached the heights he was expected to.

Diego, son of Gus Poyet, had originally inked a four year deal, but the two parties agreed to terminate his contract ahead of schedule.

The 21 year old is not short on offers though, with several clubs from the Championship reportedly interested in securing his services. [Read more…]

West Ham loan Luka Belic to Motherwell

Scottish Premier League side Motherwell have taken young Serbian starlet Luka Belic on loan from West Ham. The 20 year has joined Fir Park for a period of six months as a replacement for Marvin Johnson, who has left the Steelmen to join Oxford United.

Belic, capped by Serbia at U19 level, moved to West Ham from OFK Beograd in September last year [Read more…]

West Ham sign Alvaro Arbeloa

West Ham have completed the signing of full back Alvaro Arbeloa on a free transfer. The veteran right back has inked a one year contract with the Hammers, who view the 33 year old as mentor to young Sam Byram.

Arbeloa was previously with Liverpool, making the Hammers his second Premier League club, and has won both the World Cup and the Champions League during his tenure at Real Madrid.

Arbeloa added that Slaven Bilic was a key factor in him moving to London, with fellow Real Madrid teammates Luka Modric and Mateo Kovacic speaking very highly of the former. [Read more…]
