Referee announced for Newcastle v West Ham- Magpies have lost all their Premier League games under him!

The referee for West Ham’s weekend clash against Newcastle United has been officially announced as Paul Tierney. This is the beginning of a crucial run of winnable (at least on paper!) fixtures for the Hammers and Newcastle’s past record under Tierney will give them more confidence ahead of this Round 14 clash at St.James’ Park.

The Magpies, in FOUR attempts so far, have NOT won a Premier League game in which Tierney was the man in the middle. All four games ended in losses for Newcastle and West Ham will be more than hopeful of breaking the three game winning streak of Rafa Benitez’s men.

Newcastle, it must be remembered, did the DOUBLE over West Ham last season, winning 3-0 at home and 3-2 at the London Stadium. [Read more…]

West Ham v Man City predictions- How do the pundits reckon the Hammers will fare against Pep Guardiola’s men?

West Ham’s first game after the international break sees Manuel Pellegrini’s men host league leaders Man City. The fixture will be refereed by Andre Marriner, under whom Man City beat Huddersfield 6-1 earlier this season.

The Hammers have lost their last five games against City across all competitions and one needs to go back to the time current Irons gaffer Manuel Pellegrini was at the Etihad as MCFC boss for West Ham’s last win over the Citizens.

The home side are definitely up against it this weekend, although their performances against the top sides has been encouraging this season. Bar that opening day loss to Liverpool, none of their games against the top six has been a walkover for the opposition. [Read more…]

Referee announced for Man City clash- West Ham to play first game in over a year under him!

The referee for West Ham’s home game this weekend against league leaders Manchester City has been announced. 47 year old Andre Marriner will take charge of this clash, which will be West Ham’s first under him in over a year! He will be assisted by Scott Ledger and Simon Long, with Keith Stroud set to serve as the fourth official

Which was the last West Ham game before this City clash to be refereed by Marriner?

West Ham’s last game under Marriner came on November 19, 2017, with Watford beating the Hammers 2-0 at Vicarage Road.

Has Marriner been in charge of a West Ham-Man City Premier League game previously?

Huddersfield v West Ham Predictions- How do pundits reckon the Hammers will fare this weekend?

West Ham will be aiming to win back to back Premier League matches for the first time in nearly two years when they travel to the Kirklees Stadium this weekend to take on David Wagner’s Huddersfield. Several stats are on the side of the visitors- the Terriers have never won in the Premier League under the referee for this game, Chris Kavanagh and they have a poor league record in November.

On paper, this looks like an easy win for the Hammers. Town hadn’t even scored at home until Fosu Mensah’s own goal on Monday night broke that long drought- the victory over Fulham was also their first league win of the season.
