West Ham v Man City predictions- How do the pundits reckon the Hammers will fare against Pep Guardiola’s men?

West Ham’s first game after the international break sees Manuel Pellegrini’s men host league leaders Man City. The fixture will be refereed by Andre Marriner, under whom Man City beat Huddersfield 6-1 earlier this season.

The Hammers have lost their last five games against City across all competitions and one needs to go back to the time current Irons gaffer Manuel Pellegrini was at the Etihad as MCFC boss for West Ham’s last win over the Citizens.

The home side are definitely up against it this weekend, although their performances against the top sides has been encouraging this season. Bar that opening day loss to Liverpool, none of their games against the top six has been a walkover for the opposition.

Let’s see what the pundits have predicted for this West Ham v Man City fixture.

Mark Lawrenson: Lawro says that the international break can often affect top teams’ momentum, but says he doesn’t see that happening with Pep Guardiola’s side, and has gone for a 2-0 win to City.

Lawro’s celeb opponents this weekend, rock band Mumford & Sons, have predicted a 3-1 win for City.

Lawro Predictions

Paul Merson: Merson says City are a “million miles above the others” and that he can’t see anything “other than a City win”. Has gone for a 3-1 win to Pep Guardiola’s side.

Robbie Savage: The former Welsh medio, like Merson, also reckons City will be good enough to score thrice at the London Stadium, but thinks the Hammers will fire blanks upfront. Says City will win 3-0.

Michael Owen: Reckons it’s “hard to see past another win” for City, and reckons there will be plenty of goals in this one.

Summary of predictions:

Lawrenson: West Ham 0-2 Man City
Celeb Opponent: West Ham 1-3 Man City
Merson: West Ham 1-3 Man City
Savage: West Ham 0-3 Man City
Owen: City will win, plenty of goals in the game.
