Man City v West Ham Predictions- What do the pundits think of our chances at the Etihad?

Manuel Pellegrini will be hoping for a maiden win as manager over Pep Guardiola when West Ham travel to the Etihad Stadium to take on Manchester City.

The Hammers will be hoping that City’s congested fixture list- they played 120 minutes on Sunday against Chelsea in the EFL Cup final, plays into their hands. The defending champions will also be without key players like Aymeric Laporte and Fernandinho, who picked up knocks at Wembley and join Gabriel Jesus and John Stones in the treatment room.

The referee for this game is Stuart Attwell, under whom the Hammers are on a three game losing streak. He was the man with the whistle when they lost 3-1 to Spurs (EFL Cup) and 2-1 to Bournemouth (GW 2 in August)

By comparison, City have NEVER lost a Premier League under Attwell. Their record under him in the league reads P7- W6, D1

What do the pundits make of West Ham’s chances at the Etihad? Let’s take a look.

Mark Lawrenson: Lawro notes City’s growing injury list, but also adds that “they have got enough good players on form to hurt the Hammers”. Has predicted a 3-1 win to Pep Guardiola’s side. [Read more…]

West Ham v Fulham predictions- How do the pundits think Pellegrini’s men will fare against the Cottagers?

West Ham’s first game after a two week break sees Manuel Pellegrini’s men lock horns against Fulham at the London Stadium on Friday night. The Hammers are winless since beating Arsenal at home in mid January, and have lost five in a row in the league under the referee for this game, Lee Mason.

This will be Fulham’s first Premier League game to be played on Friday in more than a decade- the last was a 0-0 draw against Spurs back in 2008. The Cottagers are also winless in their last nine away games against West Ham.

Will the Hammers able to complete a league double over Claudio Ranieri’s men? Let’s take a look at what the pundits are predicting for this Round 27 clash. [Read more…]

Referee announced for West Ham v Fulham- Cottagers unbeaten in last 7 Premier League games under him!

The referee for West Ham’s Game Week 27 fixture against Fulham has been announced, and it’s Lee Mason. Recent history tells us that this may not be the best appointment for the Hammers, and here are two BIG reasons for it being so.

West Ham have lost their last five games under Lee Mason

Fulham are unbeaten in their last seven Premier League games under Mason

Mason was the referee when the Hammers last lost at the London Stadium- a 2-0 reverse at the hands of Watford back in December. Manuel Pellegrini’s side had won four in a row leading into that game, but had that winning streak snapped by the Hornets. That fixture was also the last in which we saw Fabian Balbuena, who limped off in the first half. After nearly two months on the sidelines, the Paraguayan has now recovered from his knee injury, and looks likely to feature in some form (potentially off the bench) on Friday night against the Cottagers. West Ham record with 18-19 third kit | List of games played in grey shirt

West Ham’s third kit hasn’t been very lucky for them in the current 2018/19 season. As on date, the Hammers have played four games in this grey alternate strip and haven’t won even one of them. They also failed to score in three of the four games, and the solitary goal they managed in the fourth game came from the penalty spot.

West Ham record with 2018/2019 third kit– Played 4, L3, D1, GF 1 (penalty), GA 9

All four of these games were away from home, and three of those four teams, with all due respect to them, are clubs against whom the Hammers would’ve expected to take at least a point, if not all three.

Liverpool 4-0 West Ham (August 12, 2018- GW 1)

West Ham’s first game of the season saw them beaten 4-0 by Liverpool at Anfield.

A little under a month after his 20th birthday, West Ham midfielder Declan Rice has officially pledged his international future to England. In a post on social media, the youngster announced his decision to “transfer his international registration from Ireland to England”

The news would’ve come as a blow to Irish fans, who would’ve been hoping for Rice not to make the same decision as Jack Grealish. The official FAI Twitter account even wished him on his birthday last month with a message that said “Happy Birthday to Ireland international Declan Rice” [Read more…]
