West Ham v Burnley Predictions- What do the pundits say?

West Ham will be desperately looking for a win when they host Burnley at the London Stadium later this afternoon. Despite their best efforts in recent weeks, the Hammers have come up short in the points department, and will be keen to set that right this month, beginning with their clash against Sean Dyche’s men at home.

This is the beginning of a set of relatively easy fixtures for the Hammers, one they’d expect to take maximum points from. Injuries haven’t helped Manuel Pellegrini’s cause, with several key players in the treatment room, but the Chilean will be hoping that both defence and offence click together against the Clarets. However Dyche’s Burnley did not lose to Pellegrini’s Man City when he was in charge of the Citizens during the 2014/15 season.

How do the pundits in the media feel about West Ham’s chances? Let’s take a look!

Mark Lawrenson: Lawro has got only three of his ten predictions for West Ham right this season. He has gone for a 2-0 win to the Hammers, saying he was surprised by “how easily” Burnley were beaten by Chelsea at Turf Moor.

The bad bit- the three correct predictions Lawro has done for West Ham have all come in losses for the Irons. They’re yet to win a game when he’s predicted a victory for them.

Lawro’s celeb opponents for this weekend, rock band Bring Me The Horizon, reckon the Hammers will win 1-0.

Lawro Predictions

Paul Merson: Merson says West Ham were “shocking” in midweek against a Spurs side that had made 10 changes. Says that they “need a run of games” and reckons “it could start from here”. Like Lawro, has gone for a 2-0 win to the home side.

Robbie Savage: Like Lawrenson and Merson, Savage reckons Manuel Pellegrini’s men will be too strong for the Clarets, and we have a third 2-0 prediction for this game!

Michael Owen: Owen reckons this will be “tight and tense”, but thinks West Ham will win this.

Summary of predictions

Everyone’s gone for a West Ham win and a clean sheet! No pressure lads, no pressure at all!

Lawrenson: West Ham 2-0 Burnley
BMTH: West Ham 1-0 Burnley
Merson: West Ham 2-0 Burnley
Savage: West Ham 2-0 Burnley
Owen: West Ham to win
