West Ham United Blog Friday Update

It’s been an interesting week for the Hammers and we’ll start off with the news that Salomon Kalou was taking the trip across the English Channel to London’s east end. Kalou’s a decent player who was so underused at Chelsea in my opinion and who now plays for Lille. If Allardyce can get him at a bargain price, why not?

Then we had ex Hammer John Moncur stating that West Ham united can mix it with the best of the Premier league. Moncur believes that the Hammers’ move into the Olympic Stadium in Stratford in 2016 will put the club back where it belongs. Moncur may have a valid point and once the Irons do move into their new home, we’ll take it from there.

Carlton Cole looked set to be Ian Holloway’s knight in shining armour at Crystal Palace. Holloway has become disillusioned by the transfer market as of late and welcomed the ex Hammer with open arms to Selhurst Park. Holloway said: “I am finding out how even more difficult it is compared to last time because of the zillions of extra quid that everybody’s got. Everybody’s asking for all sorts of things and it is almost ridiculous to get a deal done,” said the Crystal Palace manager. We wish Carlton all the best on his Crystal Palace adventure.

Then we had the terrific performance by Matt Jarvis against Hamburg in Flensburg in which he guided the boys to a rather nice 3-1 win. It made a change as West Ham were thrashed at the weekend 4-1 by Mainz in the opening match of their tour of Germany but  bounced back nicely with this win over the Bundesliga club.

Then it was Karren Brady’s turn to turn the milk sour stating that the Hammers would have to get rid of all their debt before moving to Stratford. The Hammers have around £35million worth of debt that has to be cleared before the move can take place. Brady also insisted that the club has not been given any favours or allowed to use the iconic stadium on the cheap. Well said Brady.

That brings us nicely up to the possible signing of French star Loic Remy from QPR. He may be a good addition to the team, if he escapes jail. There is tiny problem with a rape case hanging over the player’s head. What is it with French player’s and rape cases i.e.. Benzema and Ribery, or was that prostitute cases?

Anyway, monsieur Remy did manage to stick 6 goals in the net out of 14 outings whilst at QPR before they wanted him off the wage bill. Apparently he’s costing the Hoops around 70k a-week -ouch! West Ham will have to move fast as both Newcastle and Tottenham are pondering over a move for him.

About Stevo

Stevo can remember going to games with his Dad and seeing the likes of Clyde Best of all people. He also has a few mates who have “done” complete seasons too – and that was when the Irons were in division one. That’s every home and away game – unbelievable! Stevo plans to do this himself next season!
