Watford 0 – 4 West Ham United

West Ham had a wonderful victory against Watford at Vicarage Road tonight, running out four nil winners in a very professional performance.

Sam Allardyce’s team enjoyed a first back-to-back away wins since 2007 in tonight’s Championship clash.

The signs were good for The Hammers in as early as the third minute when centre-half James Tomkins pounced on Matty Taylor’s corner to direct a powerful header beyond Watford goalkeeper Scott Loach.

The second goal came with half time rapidly approaching, right back O’Brien sprinted past half the Watford team before firing beyond Loach at the second attempt after the Hornets keeper had pummelled away his initial effort.

Carlton Cole added another when he converted an Ilunga cutback from close range. Finally, Scott Parker completed the rout for the Hammers with a tidy finish to send the Hammers into third place in the league.

I am not used to seeing such a professional performance from the boys, especially on the road so long may it continue.

Pottsy Back In The Fold

Steve Potts has returned to West Ham to take up a coaching role.

The former Irons centre half, now 44 – can you believe it, seems like yesterday he was running out for the team – made 399 first team appearances for West Ham between 1985 and 2002. He has joined the Academy coaching team at Chadwell Heath where he will take control of the club’s under 16 squad on a part-time basis.

Pottsy famously scored just the one goal in his entire career at West Ham way back in 1990.

Unusually for a centre back Pottsy is only 5’8 but that did not stop him winning Hammer of The Year on two occasions.

Welcome back Steve!

Capello Will Still Pick West Ham Stars

England Manager Fabio Capello has confirmed that he will continue to pick Scott Parker for England if he remains at West Ham.

The England manager, who has included Parker and team mate Rob Green in his squad for Wednesday night’s friendly against Holland rebuffed rumours that Parker’s international career could be put on hold should he remain at West Ham and play in the Championship.

However Capello stressed that ideally Parker would be playing in the top flight of English football:

“If he does not move then that is not my problem. He is one who can play with the national team,” Capello told reporters. “He is part of the group. If he is fit, he will be okay to stay with us. I will continue picking him. If I find a really good player in the Championship, I will pick him.

“I hope for him and for me he will play in the Premier League. It is important Scott plays in the Premier League. He is a focused guy – but they play more games [in the Championship] than the Premier League.”

Parker is set to start for West Ham against Cardiff at the Boleyn Ground in today’s game.

Goodbye From Boa Morte

Luis Boa Morte has wished West Ham good luck for their Championship campaign.

32-year-old Boa Morte left West Ham with a year of his contract remaining after he was informed that he was surplus to requirements by the powers that be.

But the former Arsenal star harbours no ill feelings towards his former club, with whom he spent four-and-a-half years having been signed by Alan Curbishley from Fulham for £5million in January 2007.

“I am sad to leave West Ham as I have made a lot of friends here,” Boa Morte told whufc.com. “I wish all the best to my team-mates and for the club to get promoted.

“It is a sad day for me to leave playing football in England after 14 years [but] I am looking forward to a new challenge. It is never too late to try somewhere and something different.

“There are high and low memories – the low ones only make you stronger – now it is a fresh start for me. I would like to think people would have seen me always give everything for the team. I always tried to put my heart and head in for the team.”
