Hammers bounce back to take three points against Watford

West Ham made amends for their second half horror show on the Sussex coast last weekend as they beat Watford in this crunch league clash at the London Stadium. The win, secured due to goals from Javier Hernandez and Marko Arnautovic was the Hammers’ first home one over an opponent above them in the league standings since their famous triumph over Antonio Conte’s Chelsea earlier in the season.

Hammers boss David Moyes made two personnel (and several positional) changes from the side that had lost to Brighton. In came the talismanic Marko Arnautovic, sporting a new hairdo, and the pacy Michail Antonio and out went youngsters Declan Rice and Sam Byram. [Read more…]

Post Match Thoughts- Watford v West Ham- Moyes’ first game ends in defeat

This was a tough, but perhaps winnable fixture for David Moyes- his first in charge of West Ham, and also his 500th game as a Premier League manager. It was also the only Match Week 12 game to be played that day.

Watford had lost three in a row coming into this game, two of those losses to teams in the bottom half of the table in Stoke and Everton, and were looking vulnerable, despite having home advantage. Moyes had been working on improving his side’s defence and fitness issues in training in the lead up to the game.

West Ham did put in an improved performance, but that was not enough to stop Watford from running out 2-0 winners. [Read more…]

Moyes confirmed as new West Ham manager- What does the future hold for Chicharito and co?

West Ham have officially confirmed that David Moyes will take over from Slaven Bilic till the end of the season. The Scottish gaffer has been given a six month contract at the London Stadium.

It’s obvious that many West Ham fans won’t take well to this news, and you can’t blame them- Moyes’ last managerial assignment at Sunderland saw the Black Cats drop down to the Championship, and he’s effectively been hired by Messrs Sullivan and Gold to prevent that precise thing from happening.

After finishing 10th under Steve Bruce in the 2010-11 season, Sunderland had always flirted with relegation- the likes of Di Canio, Poyet, Allardyce and Advocaat all managed to keep them up before they finally went down under Moyes in 2016/17. Under him, they averaged 0.63 league points per game in 2016/17- Bilic was at 0.82 this season before being shown the door. [Read more…]

Video Payet with assist of the season (Rabona) but WHUFC squander 2-0 lead to lose 2-4

Dimitri Payet produced what looks like an early contender (if not winner!) for assist of the season with his rabona cross for Michail Antonio’s second goal, but West Ham fans endured a frustrating afternoon at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, with Watford coming from 2-0 down in the 34th minute to take a 4-2 lead on 64 minutes [Read more…]

West Ham v Watford preview- Payet in line for Hammers return

West Ham’s first game after the international break sees Slaven Bilic’s side host Watford this weekend. The Hammers have had a difficult start to the new season, losing to both Chelsea and Manchester City and narrowly edging out Bournemouth for a haul of three points from their opening three games. However the good bit for fans is that Dimitri Payet is likely to return to the XI this weekend and we know how much of a difference he makes to this side [Read more…]

Watford vs West Ham 2-0 Goals & English Extended Video Highlights 2015

Watford FC 2-0 West Ham United (Odion Ighalo 39, 48)

A result that went against the formbook, but probably not surprising given that it was against lower league opposition. Watford ran out 2-0 winners and thoroughly outplayed us, and we missed Sakho quite badly. Adrian was our standout player [Read more…]
