Bournemouth v West Ham Boxing Day 2017 Analysis- Bobby Madley Robs WHUFC of 3 points?

That’s probably what most West Ham fans will feel at the final whistle- robbed of three points thanks a dubious late equaliser (both offside and handball) awarded by referee Bobby Madley who chose to overrule the decision of his assistant.

In hindsight though, a point was probably a fair result for the game. Bournemouth did create more chances and two of West Ham’s goals were effectively gifts by Cherries keeper Asmir Begovic, who would’ve been the most relieved person on the pitch after Madley chose to allow Wilson’s stoppage time goal.

It was a thrilling Boxing Day fixture between the Hammers, who were just outside the drop zone, and Bournemouth, who were just in it- 17th vs 18th. Video- Beautiful Enner Valencia & Payet free kick goals give Hammers victory against Cherries

Dimitri Payet and Enner Valencia both showed their class last night as West Ham came from behind to beat Bournemouth 3-1. Both scored very, very good free kicks after Harry Arter’s first ever Premiership goal had put the Cherries ahead. Check out this video from the game- a very entertaining clash, both goalkeepers kept busy, with some cracking goals thrown in.

Video- Maiga goal vs Bournemouth wins WHUFC August Goal of the Month Award

Modibo Maiga’s goal vs Bournemouth has been voted West Ham’s Goal of the Month for August 2015. Maiga came on as a 73rd minute substitute for Diafra Sakho in that game, and scored in the 82nd minute. West Ham lost the game 4-3.

Maiga’s goal v Bournemouth beat off competition from Dimitri Payet’s strike v Leicester City (15 August) and Mauro Zarate’s goal against Arsenal (9 August). Other contenders were Sakho (v Werder Bremen), Kouyate (v Arsenal) and Sakho again (v Liverpool)

The goal was Maiga’s last for the club, with the Malian international signing for Saudi club Al-Nassr to bring to an end his three year stay at Upton Park. The 27 year old joined the Hammers from French outfit Sochaux back in 2012. [Read more…]
