Allardyce: No Carroll, No Berbatov, Maiga Hopefully

Sam Allardyce was on SkySports earlier and has said the club have give up on Andy Carroll as nothing much was going on, and that the Berbatov link was pure speculation and West Ham haven’t even spoke to Manchester United about him.

Regarding Carroll, Allardyce told SkySports:

“I think that we’re not in a situation where we can secure a deal with Andy or Liverpool at the moment.

“We talked to them, we had some negotiation. But at the moment there is nothing progressing forward on Andy coming to West Ham.

“We’ll just leave it as it is and move on with other players, as we have been doing on a daily basis through the summer.”

He also put to bed the rumour that Berbatov was Upton Park bound:

“That’s pure speculation in the media. I haven’t had any contact with Sir Alex.

“There was a statement from Dimitar saying he’s available for £5million. Everybody knows we’re looking for a striker so they say we’re in for him, but I’ve not had any conversations with Sir Alex.”

However, on a brighter note he did confirm that the deal for Modibo Maiga is progressing and that the club were working towards tying a deal up.

Bilel Mohsni On Trial

SkySports are reporting that Southend United star Bilel Mohsni is currently on trial with West Ham United.

The 24-year-old defender has been linked with a host of clubs over the last year. Stoke City and Blackpool have both seen offers rejected by Southend for Mohsni, who can also play as a striker.

However, Southend have confirmed that they have agreed to let him train with an unnamed club which SkySports have confirmed as West Ham.

I don’t know a great deal about the player other than what’s been in the media. How about you? Do you know anything more about the player or seen him play?

West Ham Bid For Berbatov

After the Andy Carroll trail seems to have gone cold West Ham appear to have turned their attention to Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov.

Berbatov, 31, has announced his intention to leave on a social network site in search of regular first team football after becoming disillusioned with life being a bit part player last season.

West Ham are hoping a return to London will tempt Berbatov who spent several seasons playing here for Spurs.

What do you think? Good signing? Type of player we should be after? Leave a comment and get discussing.

West Ham Beat Southend 3-0

West Ham today won their first game of the pre-season with a 3-0 win over Southend United.

Nicky Maynard headed in a wicked Matty Taylor corner kick in the 22nd minute to give the visitors a 1-0 advantage.

Jordan Spence then doubled the lead as he romped clear of the Southend defence to fire home, and Sam Baldock came off the bench to score his 3rd goal in as many pre-season games to give The Hammers an emphatic victory.

After a loss in Austria and a draw to Boreham Wood it was nice to taste victory, lets hope the pre-season gets better and better for West Ham.

Allardyce Confirms Carroll Interest

West Ham manager Sam Allardyce confirmed with SkySports he would love the chance to bring Andy Carroll to West Ham United, but accepts any move will depend on the player.

Brendan Rogers hinted at the possibilty of £35 Million striker Carroll being sent on loan, and since then speculation has been rife with AC Milan, Newcastle and West Ham all being linked with moves.

Allardyce Unsure

However, Allardyce is not convinced the big number 9 would be interested in a move to Upton Park.

Speaking with SkySports Allardyce said:

You can’t say you wouldn’t be interested in Andy Carroll, he’s a player who has got great stature in the Premier League,”

“Whether Andy Carroll wants to come to West Ham is another matter.”

Asked if he would favour a loan move or a permanent deal for the 23-year-old striker, Allardyce added: “It depends on whether Andy Carroll wants to come to West Ham.”

Not sure if this deal is likely to come off and feel that this could be disguising the fact we are trying to sign Modibo Maiga.
