West Ham v Arsenal Predictions- How do the pundits reckon the Hammers will fare against Unai Emery’s men

GW 22’s first game after the FA Cup weekend sees West Ham host Arsenal at the London Stadium. The Hammers last suffered defeat nearly two and a half years ago under the referee for this game, Jonathan Moss, but haven’t beaten the Gunners at home since 2006.

West Ham can be difficult to beat when they raise their game, as the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United will testify. Arsenal have a shaky back four and ship in quite a few goals when on the road (4th worst away defence in the league). The Hammers will certainly fancy their chances, but is Marko Arnautovic’s head in the right place? There has been talk of the Austrian wanting a move to China, but the Hammers have publicly announced that their star striker is not for sale. Fabian Balbuena is not also available for the home side, which is a big blow to their hopes, given the Paraguayan’s great form this season.

Referee for West Ham-Arsenal game announced, Hammers unbeaten for over two years under him

The referee for West Ham’s Premier League clash against Arsenal this weekend has been announced as Jonathan Moss. The 48 year old will be assisted by Marc Perry and Andy Halliday at the London Stadium with Stuart Attwell set to be the fourth official.

West Ham’s recent home record against Arsenal is quite poor- the last time they managed to get the better of the Gunners on home soil in any competition was back in November 2006. Since then, Arsenal have been unbeaten in 11 away games, and can make it 12 in a row if they complete a double over Pellegrini’s men on Saturday. [Read more…]

West Ham v Brighton predictions- How do the pundits reckon the Hammers will fare in their first game of 2019?

The London Stadium’s first game of the year, with its new, enhanced 60,000 capacity, sees West Ham United host Brighton and Hove Albion on Wednesday evening. The fixture could also mark Samir Nasri’s West Ham debut after he inked a short team deal till the end of the season. Pablo Zabaleta is also likely to return from illness to shore up a back four that looked poor against Burnley.

Brighton are winless in their last five games under the referee for this game, Chris Kavanagh. The Seagulls however did beat West Ham at home earlier this season (the Glenn Murray goal and some shocking defending from Arthur Masuaku), and will be looking to complete a league double over them.

West Ham had their best ever Premier League month in terms of points in December, picking up 15 from a possible 21. After a flat performance against Burnley, the Hammers will be looking to pull up their socks against the Seagulls.

Media Player Ratings- How did West Ham’s players fare at Turf Moor against Burnley

West Ham missed out on an opportunity to go 7th in the table as their 2018 ended on a disappointing note following a 2-0 loss to Burnley at Turf Moor. This was the Hammers’ first ever Premier League game with David Coote as referee and they put in an uncharacteristically flat performance, with fatigue perhaps affecting several players, as Sean Dyche’s side ran out comfortable winners. Burnley could probably won 5 or 6-0 if it hadn’t been for the Clarets’ profligacy in front of goal and the brilliance of Lukasz Fabianski between the sticks for the Hammers. [Read more…]
