West Ham to sign Matt Jarvis

News coming out this morning is that West Ham have finally agreed terms with Wolves for the transfer of Matt Jarvis.

The deal is apparently £7 Million up front with a further £3 Million of add-ons and appearance related payments for the winger, this represents a huge profit for Wolves on the £600k they paid to Gillingham for his services in 2007.

West Ham have been chasing Jarvis for some time and have had three previous bids rejected, but it looks like their persistence has finally paid off with Sam Allardyce hoping to have Jarvis available for Saturday’s trip to Swansea.

Reports are varying over that status of his medical, with some saying he has already completed it and others saying he is due to undertake it today.

No doubt Jarvis is a good player but is £10 Million too much to pay for the 26-year-old? Why do English players cost so much more than an equally good foreign import? The way I am looking at it is if Liverpool can spend £20 Million on Stuart Downing then Jarvis is a bargain 🙂

I am not sure how the Jarvis deal will impact on deals for wingers Royston Drenthe and Razak Boukari, hopefully Drenthe will still be brought in on a Bosman free transfer from Real Madrid as he can play left wing and left back so could provide cover for Jarvis or be first choice left back. Boukari as I understand it is a right winger which again I feel we are light on so it would be nice if we could get all three!

In other news I hear that the plug was pulled on Moussa Konate who has now joined Russian club FC Krasnodar. I believe the club still has numerous irons in the fire so to speak so we could still see some more fresh faces at The Boleyn.

Royston Drenthe set to sign for West Ham

Royston DrentheNews coming out is that Royston Drenthe is set to sign for West Ham on a free transfer.

Royston Drenthe is a Dutch international who was released by Real Madrid this summer, some of you may remember him from last season as he was on loan at Everton where he had an impressive spell.

Everton decided not to sign Drenthe on a permanent deal because of some of the field antics, and the 25-year-old has reportedly rejected several lucrative offers from clubs in the Middle East in favour of returning to England to ply his trade in the Premiership.

Drenthe can play left back or left midfield and during his time at Everton he made 27 appearances, scoring four goals and making seven assists.

It is believed Drenthe is set to sign a three-year deal with West Ham United but we await official confirmation.

West Ham make £10 Million Jarvis bid

West Ham have gone back to Wolves again with another bid of £10 Million according to the BBC.

Wolves have already turned down three previous bids from West Ham for their prized winger.

Sam Allardyce’s West Ham have been tracking 26-year-old Jarvis all summer and hope to finally secure his signing in time for the trip to Swansea on Saturday.

Jarvis, the one cap England international played in Wolves 3-1 win over Barnsley in the Championship last night.

Manager Stale Solbakken said after the match:

It’s not my money so someone will make a final decision. I don’t know if the two clubs are still talking.

I’ve had my say and the final call will be taken. We do it together and we’ll do the best for Wolverhampton.

So Jarvis could well be turning out for West Ham sooner rather than later, having been at the game on Saturday against Villa I think we desperately need a good wide player to deliver some ammunition for the strikers.

£10 Million is a lot of money though and would prefer to put a cheeky bid in for Adam Johnson of Man City to see if we could acquire him for a similar fee.

What do you guys think? Good transfer dealings or waste of money if it goes through?

Sam Baldock Leaves West Ham

West Ham United confirmed this evening that Sam Baldock has joined npower Championship club Bristol City.

Baldock, 23, joined West Ham from MK Dons in August 2011 and made 22 appearances and scored five goals for the Hammers, has joined Bristol City on a three-year contract.

Speaking to WHUFC.com Baldock said:

I would like to thank the fans for always supporting and encouraging me. The fans are what make the club so special and are the driving force behind its success.

There are some really great people involved in the football club who I wish every success for, and I also wish the team every success in the future.

The striker is believed to have cost Bristol City in the region of £1.5 Million plus add-ons.

Having started off very well for West Ham the goals dried up for Baldock, coupled with injury and the signings of Ricardo Vaz Te and Nicky Maynard in January, Baldock never really threatened playing for the first team again.

Piquionne departing?

Fredi Piquionne, remember him? Well hopefully he will also be on the move soon with offers apparently being accepted from both Brighton and Leeds United.

Third Matt Jarvis Bid Rejected

Wolves have rejected another West Ham bid of £9.5 Million for winger Matt Jarvis.

West Ham increased their last offer by a further £500k from the last rejected bid.

You can’t accuse Wolves of not playing hard ball can you? Usually when teams go down Premier League clubs can grab a bargain, but Wolves are having none of it and want top dollar for all their prized assets.

Jarvis is understood to be very keen on a move to West Ham and negotiations with the player will not be a problem once a fee with his club can be arranged. I can’t see this not going through as Wolves are holding out for £10 Million so it’s a matter of haggling over £500k now.

Natural Width

I think Matt Jarvis would be an excellent signing for us and would provide natural width, pace, dribbling and crossing ability that we haven’t had since Matty Etherington was on form. We need to be supplying our front men with quality balls to get on the end of and Jarvis will provide those in spades.

The last few seasons we have had too many central players out wide who have tended to tuck inside all the time and give us a real lack of width, so hopefully this deal will get sorted as Jarvis would give us some real width which we will need in the Premiership.

Terrible News

I almost spat my coffee out earlier when reading on Goal.com that Sam Allardyce is chasing Tal Ben Haim!

He was outstanding for Bolton under Big Sam which prompted Chelsea to bring the Isreali defender to London, however he has been dreadful ever since and Portsmouth couldn’t get him out of their club with a crowbar!

Transfer News

I understand Konate is still awaiting a permit before he can complete his transfer. Other deals for Loic Remy and Clint Dempsey are dead as a doornail.

Royston Drenthe, the Dutch winger who was on loan at Everton from Real Madrid last year, has been offered a contract by us as he is currently available on a free transfer and would be a very shrewd bit of business if we can get it done.

The new season has come round very quickly for me, I think I was getting too involved with the Olympics so took my eye off the ball slightly and the first game of the season has sneaked up on me! Anyway I can’t wait for Saturday and hope for a bit of revenge over Villa! COYI!
