West Ham to bid for Irish starlet Sean Maguire

sean maguire west ham targetWest Ham United have reportedly mad a transfer bid to sign Waterford United teenage striker Sean Maguire.

Irish starlet Maguire has caught the eye of West Ham’s coaching staff after impressing during a trial spell at The Boleyn.

18-year-old Sean Maguire has been attracting the interest of a host of other clubs after his impressive displays with Waterford United over the past year.

Maguire scored 12 goals in 24 starts for Waterford this term and he is regarded as one of the best young prospects to emerge from Ireland in recent years.

SkySports believe the Hammers have now made a firm offer which Waterford are considering with West Ham hoping to tie up a deal in time for the January transfer window.

I don’t confess to know much about the Sean Maguire but more exciting young talent for the club can’t be a bad thing.

Tottenham V West Ham preview

West Ham head to White Hart Lane today looking to build on their impressive start back in the Premier League.

Sam Allardyce’s high flying Hammers are currently 2 points ahead of Tottenham in seventh place, and only a further one point off a Europa League spot.

West Ham will be in a positive frame on mind having won their last away game in the Premier League up at Newcastle and will got to Tottenham looking to build on their solid start. West Ham fans will also hope that Andy Carroll can break his Hammers duck and get on the score sheet today or at least supply his old mate Kevin Nolan.

West Ham News

Yossi Benayoun is still struggling with a hip injury, so is unlikely to start but may make the bench, however there is better news on the Matt Jarvis front, with the winger returning to training this week and pushing for a starting berth.

Matt Taylor also returned from a spell on the sidelines against Stoke on Monday, so Modibo Maiga and Gry O’Neil will be looking nervously at the starting sheet with both Taylor and Jarvis looking to get back in to the starting eleven.

Tottenham News

Tottenham have had a difficult week, having lost the North London Derby at the weekend,  then their fans had terrible trouble in Rome with one of them being stabbed and more injured.

Emmanuel Adebayor will begin his three-match ban having been sent off against Arsenal, Mousa Dembele is back to full fitness and our old friend Defoe looks set to start in Adebayor’s absence.

Let’s hope it turns out to be an exciting match with West Ham taking 3 points of course!

David Beckham to sign for West Ham?

david beckham west ham

Ok, the headline that David Beckham signs for West Ham got your attention, didn’t it lads?

What would the fans think of Beckham coming to London and hanging his boots up in style at West Ham? Lest we forget, David Beckham is an East Ender and ending his days at the Hammers would be both awesome for him and the team.

Becks was born in Leytonstone in 1975 and has played for the likes of Preston North End, Manchester United, Real Madrid and currently with LA Galaxy. The guy is a living legend and I for one have always enjoyed David’s flair and finesse. He is also one of the finest dead ball artists this planet and the next has ever seen and has proved this with every club he’s been to.

It’s not such a wild and kooky idea either. At the moment, the world is his oyster with interest coming in from France, Australia, China, Dubai and the Premier League to get Becks to sign on the dotted line and contract his services.

No doubt, he’d be a hit at West Ham and he knows it. He’s got the gutsy determination like captain Nolan and doesn’t take second best. He could move back to Sawbridgeworth in Hertfordshire and it would be a nice little ride down to East London in one of his fancy cars to the Boleyn Ground. it doesn’t get better than that, does it?

David Beckham would provide the youngsters at the Hammers with years of experience – all learnt at some of the top clubs in the world. Beckham would fit in perfectly with Allardyce’s plans, too. He could use the number 23 like Ferguson used Michael Owen at Manchester United. He used Owen in a nice and gentle role with no pressure. Beckham would love it; free kick here, long pass there – choice!

David Beckham has so many options open for him in December when he leaves his current club and any team or manager with half a brain would love to have him at their club. I would be happy for David Gold esquire to dip into his Arthur Daly style coat pockets and pull out his checkbook.

Even David Gold himself said:

“He’s an East End boy and it would be a fitting end to his career.”

He would be a real asset to the East London Club and apart from selling shed loads of West Ham kit with the number 23 on it he’d be the perfect playmaker.

Diame: West Ham move the right decision

West Ham midfielder Mo Diame believes he made the correct decision in moving to The Boleyn after some critics questioned his decision to snub interest from Champions League clubs.

The 25 year-old Senegal international was reported to have attracted interest from several Champions League clubs after his contract with Wigan expired in July, but he chose to join newly promoted West Ham United.

However, with Sam Allardyce’s men positioned nicely at 6th place in the Premier League, Diame feels his choice has been fully vindicated.

People did say ‘Why are you going to West Ham when you can play in the Champions League?’ but they can see why I did now, he told West Ham TV.

It is a very big club in England and I am very happy to be here, now I am hoping that our good performances will continue.

That is why I came here. When I spoke to the club I knew they were trying to build a very good team.

We are working very hard every day on the training ground and you can see it is paying off.

Diame has been exceptional for The Hammers this season and has been our stand out player along with his midfield partners Noble and Nolan.

It was reported in the press this week that he may have a £7 Million release clause in his contract, I hope this is not true or that we get this rectified sharpish as on current form we will have a lot of clubs sniffing around for him in January.

West Ham line up Anelka

According the the papers today West Ham are looking to capitalise on the unhappiness of striker Nicolas Anelka who has failed to settle at Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua.

Anelka, 33, only left fellow London Premiership club Chelsea a year ago, however due to the forward not enjoying his time in China, West Ham have held talks about bringing him back to the Premiership.

Crazy Wages

However, Anelka will need to take a huge paycut if any deal were to materialise, as he currently takes home £250,000 per week from Shanghai Shenhua! Although it is believed Anelka is in some sort of pay dispute with his current employer which may be another reason he is looking to move on.

Allardyce’s Track Record

Anelka will also be aware of West Ham manager Sam Allardyce’s excellent record in extending the careers of other senior players.

Jay-Jay Okocha, Ivan Campo, Youri Djorkaeff  and Fernando Hierro all enjoyed successful spells in the twilight years of their  playing days under Allardyce.

I am not sure how true this story is, however I do believe we will need to add some fire power to our front line  in January as most of our goals are coming from midfield this season.

On another note, how good is to be a West Ham fan at the moment? With the club up to 6th in the Premier League table and a fantastic 1-0 win over Newcastle at the weekend, the future is looking bright and if you offered me 4 points from City at home and Newcastle away I would have snapped your hand off! COYI!
