Hammers Close On Modibo Maiga

The Mail reports West Ham are close to a £4.5m deal for Sochaux striker Modibo Maiga.

If we are to believe the reports then Maiga also has offers from Stoke and Reading sitting on the table.

I confess I don’t know too much about the player but managed to find a YouTube video of him scoring some goals, he seems to come alive in the box and can certainly head a ball as well!

He looks like he could be a handy player for us so lets hope there is some truth to the report.

Hammers Close On Kieran Richardson

News today is that West Ham United are understood to be close to completing the signing of Sunderland left sided player Kieran Richardson.

West Ham have been strongly linked with a move for the former Manchester United player since the end of last season, and it now looks like Sam Allardyce is closing on one of his transfer targets.

Since Martin O’Neil took over as Sunderland boss, Richardson who is now 27, has found it tough to get a game for the Black Cats. A fee in the region of £2.5Million has been mooted.

Guti Joins West Ham Training Camp

News coming out this evening is that former Real Madrid star Guti has joined West Hams training camp in Austria.

It was rumoured a few weeks back that Sam Allardyce was interested in bringing the Spanish veteran to Upton Park, it now seems that Guti is on trial after joining the rest of the squad in Austria.

Guti was the first of a string of veteran midfielders mentioned in the press mentioned as a possible signings for West Ham to add some experience and guile in the middle of the park, other players mentioned were Clarence Seedorf and Dejan Stankovic.

Transfer Roundup

Lots of rumours and speculation this week, but nothing concrete to bring you other than some departures.

Players Out

Pablo Barrera

The Mexican winger has gone back home to join Cruz Azul for an undisclosed fee after failing to impress at West Ham or any of the clubs he went on loan to.

Oliver Lee

The 20-year-old academy product and son of former Hammer Rob Lee has moved to Barnet after loan spells with Dagenham & Redbridge and Gillingham last season.

Possible Players In

Burak Yilmaz

The 26-year-old Turkish international scored 35 goals in 41 games last season and has a €5 million release clause. Rumours are West Ham are battling with Lazio and Tottenham for his services. This guy is prolific so could be a fantastic signing if we pull it off.

Dejan Stankovic

Another player being linked is Inter Milan’s Dejan Stankovic, Sam Allardyce is desperate to add some quality and experience in midfield, after seeing a deal for Clarence Seedforf go south it appears he has turned his attention to classy veteran Stankovic.

Definite No Deals

Grant Holt

The Norwich striker who West Ham have been persistently linked with has now signed a new contract with The Canaries to put this one to bed. Considering the large transfer that would have been involved that’s good news to me.

Kader Mangane

Monster Centre Back Mangane was apparently in London this weekend and reports are that he failed a medical, if true this would be a shame as the man is a beast and would have been formidable in the back four for us.

No other news to bring you at present, deals for Zaha and Clyne could still very much be on but this week should see the signing of at least one new quality player.
