Stewart Downing has been linked heavily with a move to West Ham United this transfer window already, but with the deal looking to have gone cold it it now appears to be very much on.
SkySports broke a story last night suggesting West Ham were closing in fast on the Liverpool player.

Various reports around the internet and Twittersphere are mooting a permanent deal in the region of £6 million for the winger and it has been confirmed that Downing is in talks with West Ham over a transfer to The Boleyn Ground.
Checking around and SkySports think the deal is as good as done and SkyBet have shortened the odds on Downing playing for West Ham United next season to 1/7!
Liverpool will lose an awful lot of money on Downing if he does indeed sign for West Ham for £6 million, this would be a loss in the region of £14 million for the England international.
This would not be the first time we have picked Liverpool’s pocket recently, with Joe Cole returning on a free and Andy Carroll signing for West Ham in a permanent transfer earlier this transfer window.
With Liverpool having lost an eye watering £20 million on Carroll and what could be £14 million on Downing, that’s a combined total of £34 million they have failed to recoup in two transfer dealings with the Hammers!
You have to admire whoever is playing such hard ball with Liverpool over these transfers.
So Stewart Downing, good signing for West Ham if it goes through?
