Hammers seal deal with Real Betis keeper Adrian

The Hammers have just penned a deal with Real Betis keeper Adrián. The Spanish keeper will join the irons for three years and will leave his club on a free transfer in July.

According to the Spanish press, the keeper has been offered double his salary to leave the club from the south of Spain and yesterday he said his ‘goodbyes’ to his teammates in an emotional press conference.

The 26 year old started off his career at the club and recognises that it has been a hard decision to leave the club and city where he grew up.

The Seville – Real Betis derby is one of the most strongly contested derby games in Spain with frequent violence when the two clubs play.

On the club’s website, Adrián had this to say about his new job in London:

“I am extremely happy and ecstatic to have joined such a legendary and historical club in both London and in England.”

“I am really looking forward to being able to kick-off my career in the best league in the world with West Ham.

“I started off my career as a ten-year-old and have been there all of my life. I came through the ranks and I made my first-team debut in the sixth league game of last season against Malaga and was an ever-present since.

“For me, the icing on the cake was helping the team to qualify for the Europa League in, like West Ham, our first season back in the top flight after we had spent three years in the Second Division. Achieving this qualification was a massive farewell gift for the Betis fans.”

Adrian would be a great addition to Allardyce’s team and he’s a good keeper. Last November Adrián was the hero of the match when he denied Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid in a game in which Real Betis beat them by 1 goal to nil to leave the whites trailing by 8 points behind Tito Vilanova’s Barcelona.

About Stevo

Stevo can remember going to games with his Dad and seeing the likes of Clyde Best of all people. He also has a few mates who have “done” complete seasons too – and that was when the Irons were in division one. That’s every home and away game – unbelievable! Stevo plans to do this himself next season!
