Potts and Nene leaving- Club announce list of departing players

Talented youngster Dan Potts and experienced forward Nene will be leaving the club this summer, according to an official list published by the club. Nene is one of four experienced players to be shown the door, along with Carlton Cole, Guy Demel and Jussi Jaaskelainen.

You’ve got to feel for Nene- very classy player but never quite got the opportunities required to show his talent. Was on big wages too, and him on the wrong side of 30 being probably made it easy for the club to snap links.

Kevin Nolan full of praise for Pottsy

West Ham’s captain Kevin Nolan has been impressed lately by young Dan Potts and particularly after his good performance at the Boleyn Ground against Manchester United in their FA Cup draw last Saturday.

Potts Wins SBOBET Player of The Month

News coming out from West Ham’s official:

Dan Potts has completed a remarkable December 2011 by being voted West Ham United’s SBOBET player of the month.

The 17-year-old, who beat a life-threatening bout of leukaemia less than two years ago, was handed his début by manager Sam Allardyce in the 1-0 home npower Championship victory over Barnsley on 17 December. Potts kept his place for the 1-1 Boxing Day draw at Birmingham City and 2-1 New Year’s Eve defeat at Derby County.

The teenager has impressed with his poise, composure and willingness to get forward and has been tipped for a very bright future by both Big Sam and Academy Director Tony Carr.

Potts took 34.9 per cent of the vote, with Robert Green second on 24.4 per cent and James Tomkins third on 23.5 per cent.

Good on you Pottsy! Let’s hope this is a small taste of things to come!
