West Ham knocked out of FA Cup by Bristol City

West Ham’s disappointing start to the New Year continued as they were knocked out of the FA Cup by Championship outfit Bristol City. The original game at the London Stadium had ended in a 1-1 draw, with Tommy Conway’s strike on the hour mark cancelling out Jarrod Bowen’s opener.

The return leg at Ashton Gate went the way of the Robins though. Similar to Bowen’s earlier strike in the first leg, Conway netted in the 3rd minute of this tie to put Bristol City 1-0 up. And unfortunately for the Hammers, they couldn’t find a way back, and eventually slumped to a 1-0 loss and an early exit from the competition.

The result also means that Bristol City will be up against another Premier League opponent in the form of Nottingham Forest in the fourth round of the competition.
