Pundit Predictions- How will West Ham fare against Liverpool?

Game Week 25’s final fixture sees West Ham host Liverpool at the London Stadium. Jurgen Klopp’s Reds will be keen to re-establish their five point lead at the top after seeing rivals Man City convincingly beat Arsenal yesterday evening at the Etihad. West Ham, on the other hand, are seeking to stem a run of three defeats- they go into this fixture on the back of consecutive losses to Bournemouth, Wimbledon (FA Cup) and Wolves.

The Wolves performance was the poorest of the lot, with a reasonably full strength Hammers side (including Marko Arnautovic who later had to hobble off with a foot injury), going down rather tamely at Molineux.

Few will give West Ham any chance against Liverpool, who have a fantastic recent record against them, but as we know, the Hammers tend to raise their games for big name teams, and the London Stadium is not an easy place to travel to, as the likes of Chelsea, Man Utd and Arsenal will testify to.

Let’s take a look at what various pundits have to say about their predictions for this game.

Mark Lawrenson: Lawro reckons it’s easier for Liverpool to play away from home, away from all the expectations at Anfield. Says if Arnautovic misses this game (as is expected), there is only one outcome, and has gone for a 2-0 win to the Reds.

His celeb opponents this week, NFL stars Ryan Fitzpatrick and Mohamed Sanu, have tipped West Ham to upset the Reds with a 3-2 scoreline.

Kevin Kilbane: Kilbane says Liverpool wil be too strong for West Ham, and reckons there will be plenty of goals in this one- has gone for LFC to win and both teams to score.

Owen: Owen has taken note of Liverpool’s recent dominance against the Hammers (scoring four goals in their last four games against the club), and expects Liverpool to get back to winning ways here. Like Kilbane, has picked Liverpool to win and BTTS.

Robbie Savage: Like Lawro, Savage has predicted a two goal win for the Reds, but has also picked West Ham to score, with a 3-1 his expected scoreline.

Summary of predictions

Lawro: West Ham 0-2 Liverpool
CO: West Ham 3-2 Liverpool
Owen & Kilbane: LFC to win and both teams to score
Savage: West Ham 1-3 Liverpool
