Southampton v West Ham predictions- How do the pundits reckon the Hammers will fare against Hasenhuttl’s men?

Thursday’s solitary Premier League fixture sees West Ham travel to the South Coast to take on Ralph Hasenhuttl’s Southampton at St.Mary’s. Under their new Austrian manager, Saints have managed to register back to back wins over Huddersfield and Arsenal and will be full of confidence against a West Ham side who will be looking to bounce back after a disappointing defeat at home to Watford last weekend.

Saints have a good home league record against the Hammers- they’ve only lost in the previous nine times they’ve hosted the Hammers, although the visitors can also claim to have a similarly good record under the referee for this game, Craig Pawson.

A win here will see the Hammers move back into the top half of the table. How do the pundits reckon this GW19 fixture, which will officially see us reaching the half way mark of the current league season, will go?

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is suspended for Southampton.

Mark Lawrenson: Lawro was one of the few to have predicted a Watford victory last weekend. He reckons Hasenhuttl is having an impact at Southampton not too different to what Solskjaer’s had at Man Utd. Says he feels West Ham “will be reflecting on another loss after this game is over” and has gone for a 2-0 win to Southampton.

His celeb opponent, bassist Jim Glennie, feels the Hammers will bounce back from their loss to Watford and win 1-0 at St.Mary’s.

Paul Merson: Merson says West Ham are a “decent team” despite their home loss to Watford and has predicted a 2-2 draw on the South Coast.

Michael Owen: Owen, like Merson, reckons this will be a “scoring draw”, with 2-2 a very possible outcome in his opinion.

Kevin Kilbane: Kilbane, like Owen and Merson, is another one sitting on the fence for this fixture. Reckons that both teams will definitely score, and a draw, either a 1-1 or a 2-2 looks the most likely result.

Robbie Savage: Savage has predicted a 2-1 win for Saints.
