Newcastle v West Ham Predictions- What do the pundits say about the Hammers’ chances at St James Park?

West Ham will be looking to halt Newcastle United’s three game winning run when they meet the Magpies at St.James Park on Saturday afternoon. Robert Snodgrass is available for selection after missing last weekend’s loss against Man City through suspension. While NUFC are certainly in form, the ref for this game is one under whom they’ve never won a Premier League game. The Magpies though did do a league double over the Hammers last season and manager Rafa Benitez has a good record against the Irons.

Let’s see what the pundits have predicted for this game?

Mark Lawrenson: Lawro says that when Rafa Benitez gets a good run going, it lasts more than just two or three games, and fancies Newcastle to get their fourth straight league win. He’s predicted a 2-0 win to NUFC.

Lawro’s celeb opponent, actor Dolph Lundgren, has gone for a 2-1 win to the Magpies.

Paul Merson: Merson reckons Newcastle will edge this one because “of their confidence” and has gone for a 2-1 win to the home side.

Robbie Savage: Former Welsh midfielder Savage is another who thinks Newcastle will be too strong for the Hammers. Says they’ll win 2-1.

Michael Owen: Owen says both teams “are well matched” and has predicted a draw (expects it to end 1-1)- the only one of this quartet not to predict a Newcastle win.

Summary of predictions:

Mark Lawrenson: Newcastle 2-0 West Ham
Dolph Lundgren: Newcastle 2-1 West Ham
Paul Merson: Newcastle 2-1 West Ham
Michael Owen: Draw, Newcastle 1-1 West Ham

3 Newcastle wins and a draw.

Important game for West Ham given their crowded, but relatively easy fixture list this month. These are games from which they’d expect to take points.
