Rival watch- Palace win, Stoke lose

West Ham’s league game over the weekend against Manchester United was postponed due to the latter’s FA Cup commitments but how did the Hammers’ relegation rivals fare in their games this weekend?

Palace were away at Huddersfield while Stoke were at home against Everton

Crystal Palace moved out of the bottom three and leapfrogged the Hammers after beating Huddersfield 2-0 away from home. The win for Palace saw them end their seven game winless streak and one of their goal scorers on the afternoon was former West Ham player James Tomkins.

Stoke would’ve fancied taking points against Everton, a team that had won only once on the road all season going into this league game. However Charlie Adam’s early red card and Cenk Tosun’s double saw the Toffees walk away with all three points and dragged the Potters closer to the drop.

To sum it up, West Ham’s home games against Southampton and Stoke could essentially define their season. They’re must wins-it’s been said as much, but the losses against Swansea and Burnley have really hurt the club.

How does the bottom half of the Premier League look like after the weekend’s fixtures?
