It wasn’t pretty to watch, and it shows in the ratings. West Ham lost 4-1 to Liverpool over the weekend, a result that saw them drop into the bottom three after Everton’s 3-2 win over Watford at Goodison Park on Sunday.
Here is how the media viewed and rated our players- this table is a compilation from five sources- Football.London, the Daily Mail, Sky, the Mirror and the Independent (all ratings out of 10)
The defence, not surprisingly, came in for criticism from all sources. However in the case of Edimilson Fernandes, playing out of position at RWB and taken off at half time for Andy Carroll, the Daily Mail thought he was “West Ham’s best player in the first half” and gave him a 7. None of the other four sources gave him more than a 4.
Sky opted to give the entire team bar Hart and Lanzini a 4 (even the three subs got a 4).
Lanzini was easily West Ham’s best player on the night with his glorious finish for the club’s only goal, and this was reflected in the ratings- all the other papers gave him a 7.

The reporter at the Daily Fail doesn’t watch games it seems.
Fernandes isn’t quite Prem standard yet. Passing is atrocious.
