It was being heavily rumoured in the papers for the last few weeks, but today, West Ham have officially confirmed the transfer of Algerian winger Sofiane Feghouli to Turkish giants Galatasaray. Feghouli has moved for an undisclosed fee, reported to be around 4.2 million euros, and has put pen to paper a five year deal in Istanbul.
Feghouli is the latest in the long list of players the Hammers signed last year (2016), but have let go this year- other names on that list being Ashley Fletcher, Havardt Nordveit, Simone Zaza, Jonathan Calleri, Gokhan Tore and Alvaro Arbeloa.
Feghouli was signed on a free, so this transfer represents marginal profit for West Ham. He was also reportedly one of the higher earners at the club, and this also frees up some part of the club’s wage bill.
Galatasaray have made some high profile signings this summer, with the likes of Younes Belhanda, Bafetimbi Gomis and Fernando arriving in the current transfer window. However the likes of Podolski, Bruma and Sneijder have left the club.
