Lacazette number one target as striker search continues

Having been linked with a whole host of strikers in recent weeks following remarks made by owner David Sullivan concerning his side’s need for new attacking threat, West Ham now seem to be among the frontrunners in the chase for Frenchman Alexandre Lacazette. The likes of Marseille’s Michy Batshuayi, Liverpool’s Christian Benteke and even Arsenal’s Theo Walcott are among the other names to have been linked with a move to the Olympic Stadium next season, however Lyon’s Lacazette is now reportedly the man Slaven Bilic sees as his number one option.

Despite Lyon refusing to be drawn on the future of their most prized asset, Lacazette himself has made no secret of his desire to move away from the French side in which he has spent six years at. Despite the Hammers remaining the favourites with bookmakers like Coral to snap up the services of England’s Walcott should he seek a move away from London rivals Arsenal, Lacazette remains high on the list of priorities this summer. The 24 year old is the second top scorer in Ligue 1 this season behind Zlatan Ibrahimovic with twenty-one goals, and is among France’s reserve players for the upcoming Euro 2016 tournament. In fact rumours have it that a transfer fee has already been agreed for the Lyon striker and a move is on the cards. Check out all the latest transfer news at Coral, a nice resource in what will undoubtedly be a busy transfer window as West Ham and other clubs look to make improvements on their league positions from this season.

West Ham suffered defeat in their final Premier League game of the season at Stoke this past weekend, and will now be relying on Manchester United winning the FA Cup this weekend to secure European football at their new stadium next season. A win for Palace will see the Hammers lose out on European footy next season.

Elsewhere for the Hammers, confirmation of the signing of Havard Nordtveit from German Bundesliga outfit Borussia Monchengladbach will come as welcome news. The former Arsenal youngster has twenty-eight international caps for Norway and can operate at centre half or in a defensive midfield role.
