Dimi named Player of the Year at London Football Awards

Another feather in the cap of Dimi Payet as he was named Player of the Year at the London Football Awards last night. Dimi pipped Mesut Ozil (Arsenal), Willian (Chelsea), Harry Kane (Spurs) and Odion Ighalo (Watford) to the award following a fantastic debut season where he’s been nothing short of inspirational for the Hammers

Here are a few words from Dimi after winning the award.

It is of course an honour and a great joy for me to receive this award after only one season here. It’s the first time in my career that I have received a personal award like this. Last year, I won Best Passer in Ligue 1, but this is the first time I have been named best player.

Being recognised like this after only one season here is particularly special, especially when I saw the nominations for this award. They are all great players and vital to each of their clubs, so that gives even more value to this award

Slav though missed out on the Manager of the Year award which went to Spurs gaffer Mauricio Pochettino.

The awards were chosen by an expert panel of journalists, former players and representatives from the city’s fifteen professional clubs.
