Hull City boss Steve Bruce has defended the swan diving antics of Robbie Brady that handed his team the win on a silver platter.
Brady went tumbling to the floor like a sack of spuds after a “soft” challenge in the box by West Ham’s Joey O’Brien.
The player, now recovered from his injuries, slotted the spot kick past a hapless Jussi who couldn’t do anything about it.
That was basically game over after 12 minutes of play and it was a lead that Hull would not relinquish.
Steve Bruce had nothing but praise for Brady after the match: “Robbie’s as genuine as they come. He’s as daft as a brush, he wouldn’t know what simulation is.
To add insult to injury Hull’s Jake Livermore was seen to clearly “elbow the ball” in the penalty area at the other end late in the game which would have certainly even up the scores. Kevin Friend the referee, who was not the Hammer’s “amigo” on Saturday, failed to spot that one.
I’m not saying that West Ham United deserved a win against the Tigers but two poor decisions in one match is hard to stomach.
With lots of players taking their cue from the Spanish League with swan dives that even the great Karl Heinz Rummenigge would have been proud of, this has to be curbed.
Another poor decision at the weekend saw Fernando Torres sent off against Sp*rs for a legitimate challenge. Admittedly, it looked quite a dodgy one but seeing the replay, Torres didn’t even touch Vertonghen, who nearly managed to “spark himself out” after heading the ball.
West Ham meet Sp*rs next week away and they need to score goals now. The Hammers are currently 17th in the league and have managed to rack up a dismal 5 points. The boys need to start firing on all cylinders.
The cheating bit came when O’Brien pushed Brady in the back…has he owned up to that….has he hell…..has Big Sam criticized him…..has he hell
I don’t like ugly women, so now we’re even.
Bruce looked embarrassed trying to defend his cheating player on MOTD, I’ve lost a lot of respect for the Pug faced Geordie twat since that interview.
You had 77 minutes to score, you didn’t and you should have been down to ten men after five minutes anyway. Swings and roundabouts.
Yes and in those 77 mins we should have had a legit penalty which would have made it a draw at least. Even Dermot Gallagher said on SKy Sports this morning that it was a “soft” penalty and harsh on West Ham whereas West Ham should have had a defo penalty. Don’t like cheaters and hope you go down
