Cardiff City’s Scottish manager Malcolm George “Malky” Mackay has warned opponents West Ham United they are in for a tougher match than the one faced just a month earlier.
West Ham comfortably beat the Bluebirds in their first outing in the Premier League by 2 goals to nil back in August but Malky Mackay thinks his team has come on in leaps and bounds since then and are on a run.
New boys Cardiff had managed to turn over Manchester City and draw against Martinez’s Everton and Hull City before being beaten by Tottenham on Sunday courtesy of a late Paulinho goal.
“It was a disappointing result (at Upton Park), but the performance after the first 20 minutes was decent.
This is a completely different game, a different week with different players on show,” said Malky Mackay. “After the first 20-25 minutes at West Ham United, we have got better, that showed in terms of our possession stats that day and also since then.
“The players have got stronger in their belief in terms of their ability to handle playing against top players. “The Manchester City result strengthened belief and I would go even further and say the Everton result and the way we played was even more important. It could have been a case of after the Lord Mayor’s Show. But it wasn’t.”
The Jock’s comments come after West Ham lost against Roberto Martinez’s Everton at the weekend by 3 goals to 2 win where Mark Noble got sent off to set up the Toffees for a win by an equaliser by Baines and a winner by Romelu Lukaku.
