Carroll return for Saints game on the cards

Hammers striker Andy Carroll could be back in action for the club’s away game at St Mary’s on 15th September.

West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce has been cautious by not willing to set a fixed date for the club’s record transfer fee at yesterday’s press conference.

The £15.5 million injury laden Andy Carroll might see himself going head to head with Rickie Lambert at the match at St Mary’s as both players are very much in the England manager’s mind for the central striking role for the England team.

There have also been whispers about a bit part in the Carling Cup clash against Cheltenham on Tuesday evening, but nothing’s been confirmed. Maybe a quarter of an hour on the pitch might be a good start for the big Geordie but Allardyce is right to be cautious with his prized asset.

According to Sports Direct news website, a highly placed insider at Upton Park said: “Andy’s heel is still sore but the medical staff are happy that the medical problem itself has been sorted.

“The player has pencilled in the Southampton match for his return although none of these things are written in tablets of stone.”

This appears to be good news in the light of what we have had to listen to over the past few days. with Allardyce now alleging that there’s no more money in the kitty after splashing out on Carroll, Downing and Rat, getting the big Geordie back must be considered a priority.

About Stevo

Stevo can remember going to games with his Dad and seeing the likes of Clyde Best of all people. He also has a few mates who have “done” complete seasons too – and that was when the Irons were in division one. That’s every home and away game – unbelievable! Stevo plans to do this himself next season!
