Allardyce confirms he wants Kalou at Upton Park

About a week ago we spoke about the possibility of Lille’s Salomon Kalou coming to West Ham and his interest in a premier League return. Allardyce has now revealed that the club is after a deal with the Frenchman.

To put it short, the West Ham manager has confirmed he wants 27 year-old Salomon Kalou at the Boleyn Ground..

Salomon Kalou left the English league last summer and crossed the English channel to join Lille from Chelsea. The attacker has admitted that the return to the English premier League is attractive.

West Bromich Albion are also making moves for the Ivory Coast international, but the player features high up on the West Ham United manager’s wish list and hopes a deal can be sorted out.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Sam Allardyce said: “I think that, as far as I know, the West Ham chairman is speaking with the player’s agent.”

“We understand the player wants to come back and play in England. Whether that’s with us or whoever, we’re having a look at it.

“Obviously from his record at Chelsea and his goalscoring record last season in France, and his age, he’s very appealing to us.”

Allardyce also admitted that Kalou’s regular position may be a stumbling block.

Kalou usually prefers a central role and the Hammers already have Carroll, Vaz Té and Maiga covering that area so would have to work something out if he were to bring the Ivory Coast player to London’s east end.

About Stevo

Stevo can remember going to games with his Dad and seeing the likes of Clyde Best of all people. He also has a few mates who have “done” complete seasons too – and that was when the Irons were in division one. That’s every home and away game – unbelievable! Stevo plans to do this himself next season!
