Rumours are flying around at the moment on this Monday morning stating that West Ham are in the throes of preparing a bid for Inter Milan’s Zdravko Kuzmanovic.
And the Serbian attacking midfielder has apparently been named by Big Sam as one of his favourite summer targets and has got the Hammers’ board to test the water with the player.
Reports coming from Metro newspaper say that West Ham United are ready to table a bid of around 5 million euros with the Milan side to secure the services of the 25-year-old Serbian.
Kuzmanovic would be offered a four-year contract with a wage packet that would make the midfielder the best paid at the East End club if the Hammers’ bid was accepted by the Italian Serie A club.
Allardyce wants to reshape somewhat his midfield before the coming season and the signing of Zdravko Kuzmanovic fits his bill.
Speaking after Saturday’s 2-0 friendly win at Bournemouth, Allardyce said Kuzmanovic was on his radar but stopped short of admitting any bid.
Allardyce said: “He is a player I like, but I know nothing about it so cannot comment.”
The Serbian midfielder joined Inter Milan in the January transfer window after three and a half seasons with German outfit Stuttgart.
For the price, it looks like the 6′ 1″ Serbian could be a good addition to the side although his high wage bill is definitely a step in the wrong direction.

Completely agree that the high wages would be a step in the wrong direction.
That aside he was a very highly rated signing for Inter when he joined from Germany.
I have to admit that Sam Allardyce has an eye for a player. I wasn’t aware of this guy but, with Allardyce’s ability to get the most from his players, I reckon he might prove a success. Who, in midfield, will make way though. Could this mean Diame’s on his way? Is there any significance of Nobes’ absence from the Bournemouth game? More questions than answers I’d say.
Don’t think there is much to worry about concerning this deal,(other than the rumoured wages!). Last season we were doing great untill we hit the buffers at around Xmas time. This was due to us running out of bodies and having such a small squad that our best players were playing nearly every game. You can only do that for so long before exhaustion sets in and if you don’t have the quality to bring in and rotate your squad then performances will be affected. This is what happened to us around the Xmas period. It also didn’t help that a number of key injuries also kicked in at this time. The long and the short of it was we did not have the quality or the numbers in our tiny squad to cope with a premier season. I think the signing of kuzmanovic will be a great bit of business not only for the quality it will add to the team but also for the depth it would add to the squad and the options it will open up when it comes to rotating tired players. So I am looking at this as a positive rather than worrying about who will potentially have to move on to make way. On the evidence of pre season so far we are finally getting that quality in depth in midfield that was so cruelly exposed last season. Now if we could just sort out another quality striker, an attacking wide right player and cover in defence then we will be in business! COYI!
