West Ham in bid for Czech striker Matej Vydra

West Ham United along with three other Premier League clubs have made moves to sign the player on loan according to his agent.

Matej Vydra, 21, may be known to some supporters already after a successful loan spell with Watford last season saw the striker score 20 goals in 41 outings and win the Championship Player of the Year award to boot.

Vydra was only on loan at Watford and will return to Udinese his parent club in Italy, unless a permanent or loan arrangement can be met with another club.

West Ham United Target Matej Vydra

SkySports news have quotes from Vydra’s agent saying:

We agreed that none of the offers (for a permanent transfer) are in the region that would interest Udinese.

They don’t want to sell him for £8million, so they have given us freedom to discuss loan spells with the Premier League clubs that are interested.

At the moment we have offers from four Premier League clubs – West Brom, West Ham, Swansea and Sunderland.

Vydra is also a full Czech international has scored 2 goals in 7 outings for his country.

West Ham are light on strikers at the moment, with the club letting Carlton Cole go along with the end of loan deals for Maroune Chamakh and Wellington Paulista, so it would make sense for the club to be in the market for competition up front for Andy Carroll and quality backup should the striker pick up an injury.

Even though Vydra scored 20 goals for The Hornets he also went on a 13-game barren run of no goals for the club.
