West Ham United’s new signing Razvan Rat has spoken to West Ham TV of his excitement and pride at the thought of playing for the club in the Premier League.
Rat, 32, is the Romania captain and has picked up 88 caps for his country. He signed for West Ham United on a free transfer after being heavily linked with a move to The Hammers earlier on in the January transfer window after 20 years with Ukranian team Shakhtar Donetsk.
Speaking to West Ham TV after trying on the new home shirt, Rat said:
First of all I am very happy to wear a West Ham United kit, Rat told West Ham TV. I think this kit has a very good quality and is of high standards.
For me it’s an honour to wear this shirt and to play in the Premier League. I will be very proud to wear the claret and blue colours and I hope to satisfy the fans.
I’ll be very excited when I pull on the kit for the first time, because it will be my first game here.
Rat will add some quality and experience to the left back position for us, last year the left side never really felt settled with injuries meaning multiple different players from McCartney, O’Brien and young Dan Potts all filling in. Hopefully Rat can have an injury free campaign and prove to be another shrewd signing by Allardyce.
I am looking forward to West Ham conducting more business in this transfer window and seeing more quality players trying on the new home shirt before the start of the new season!
