West Ham United turned on the style yesterday to iron out West Bromwich Albion at the Boleyn ground on Saturday afternoon. It was a welcome breath of fresh air and 3 decent points that the Hammers needed to spur themselves on towards top flight football survival.
Andy Carroll also turned on the style and the lad looks like he’s finding his old form – who knows, the Hammers might be interested in signing him from Liverpool at the end of the season after all!

Andy Carroll’s two goals finally showed the Hammers’ fans what he’s all about but the 17Million asking price for the big striker will almost certainly be put on hold by the West Ham board until the summer.
Coupled with Allardyce’s future as West Ham’s manager, things started to look good yesterday afternoon and West Ham celebrated getting the keys to the Olympic stadium in style.Who knows, maybe in three years’ time, both Allardyce and Carroll will be there to celebrate in style.
Big Sam had this to say after the match:
“It has been a great day for us.The last time we played at Upton Park we lost in the last minute and we have had some good performances which have not been rewarded with goals.
“This time we saw three different types of goal, with Andy showing his heading ability.”
“I hope this will kick Andy on and he can become a regular goalscorer for the next eight games or so. His match fitness is finally here and he is enjoying himself, that is the main thing.”
To top it off, even Albion’s boss Steve Clarke had kind words for Allardyce’s men and believes the home side were the better team.
Carroll’s first goal was a peach and powered a beautiful header into the back of the baggies net after out jumping Jonas Olsson on 16 minutes. Then it was O’Neil’s turn to chip the keeper after Ricardo Vaz Té squared the ball to him.
It was two nil and despite a few moments of inspiration from Albion, it was West ham’s game. Carroll’s second came from a James Collins free kick 11 minutes from the final whistle. The big forward latched onto it and volleyed it into the back of the net giving Ben Foster no chance.
West Brom’s Dorrans scored their consolation goal from the penalty spot after West Ham’s Winston Reid and Matt Taylor decided to make a sandwich of Lukaku in the box.
Yousouf Mulumbu picked up a ridiculous red card after reacting to a tug by O’Neil. Mulumbu picked the ball up and booted it straight at the Hammers’ player for which the ref had no choice but to get the red card out. He’ll be out suspended for the next three games
and Baggies boss remarked that it didn’t affect the performance of yesterday’s game but will affect the next three.
