Nadir Belhadj, a former Portsmouth FC winger has insinuated that he would like a return to top-flight football in the Premier League with Sam Allardyce’s Hammers.
The 30 year-old Algerian, who plays for Qatari team Al Sadd, spent two years at Portsmouth before leaving in 2010 after their FA Cup triumph in 2008 by beating Cardiff city by 1 goal to nil and their FA Cup runners up medal in 2010 where they were beaten by Chelsea by a goal to nil scored by Didier Drogba in the 59th minute of the match.
West Ham United are among a few clubs to have been linked with a move for the left-winger and Belhadj is open to a move to the Boleyn ground. Belhadj has 54 international caps for Algeria although he did play for France U18’s scoring 2 goals in 2000.
30 year-old Nadir Belhadj had this to say about it:
“I am happy to be linked with prestigious clubs, such as Benfica, Lazio and West Ham United,”
“Benfica have been linked with me before but nothing has happened yet. They are a great club with great tradition and infrastructures.
“West Ham are also a great team with a good reputation and I always enjoy the English Premier League. To be honest, nothing has been decided yet, so I’ll have to wait and see.”
With interest from other clubs such as Lazio and Benfica, the Hammers may have a fight on their hands to get the Algerian to sign for the East London club.
What do you think, would the Algerian be a useful addition at West Ham United?
