Premier League Distance Covered 2017-18 | West Ham lowest after 9 rounds

Despite a poor performance at home against Brighton on Friday night, West Ham thankfully stayed out of the bottom three after the conclusion of Week 9 in the Premier League. Leicester City came out of the drop zone, but Ronald Koeman’s Everton dropped into it after Arsenal claimed their first away win at Goodison Park, running out 5-2 winners over the Toffees.

MOTD2 produced a rather telling stat which showed that West Ham were BOTTOM of the table in terms of both “distance covered” and “sprints” currently. While the frequent red cards don’t help (West Ham have played 120 out of the 810 minutes with ten men, and no other team has crossed 90), it’s still an indictment on the poor work rate of the players.

Distance covered- 944.1 km (20th and last in the league)

It approximately works out to 104.9 km on an average. In stats for 2016/17 just prior to Week 34, West Ham were averaging 109.5 km per game (Man Utd were the lowest then with 106.1 km per game in that stat)
