West Ham’s Mo Diame confident ahead of Blues clash

Hammers man Mo Diame is surprisingly confident ahead of next Sunday’s Premier league match against West London neighbours Chelsea.

The midfielder is looking forward to facing Rafa Benitez’s boys at Stamford Bridge and is full of optimism for his side.

After beating Stoke at the Britannia ground a week ago by a single goal to nil, things might be turning back round for the Hammers after a bad patch in the league.

Mo Diame spoke to the official West Ham United website and had this to say:

“I don’t know why we haven’t got better results when we’ve played away this season, so the Stoke result was very important for us and now we can look forward to the Chelsea game.

“We have to go there, give our best on the pitch and try to put them in trouble. Winning at Stoke gives us belief and that’s important.

“We beat Chelsea at home earlier in the season and it was a very good win. You always want to play when you’re up against the big four, so I was happy to get on and play my part. I had a lot of confidence going into that game, and that helped me to do my job on the pitch that day.

“Emotionally, that was the best feeling I’ve had at West Ham. The fans were very happy and pushed the team on when Coley scored the equaliser. It was a great atmosphere and it got even better when we scored the second and third to win the game.

“Now Chelsea know what we can do, so it’s not going to be easy, but we just need to give our best and we’ll see what happens.

“They have good players there, but we will have our chance too. We know how we want to play and we’re going to prepare well over the week, watch videos of Chelsea to see how they’ve played in recent games and then try to stop them on the day.”

Things could be turning the other way for the Hammers and after Vaz Té’s solid performance against Stoke and Jack Collison’s goal, things are looking up.

The Senegal international has fond memories of playing against Chelsea too where the Hammers put the West Londoners to the sword by 3 goals to one at the Boleyn ground. He remembers well coming off the bench to net the Irons’ second goal in the epic match.

This Sunday the fans will also be looking for a similar performance from the midfielder as West Ham edge back up the table to the good half – COYI!

About Stevo

Stevo can remember going to games with his Dad and seeing the likes of Clyde Best of all people. He also has a few mates who have “done” complete seasons too – and that was when the Irons were in division one. That’s every home and away game – unbelievable! Stevo plans to do this himself next season!
