West Ham set to sign Salomon Kalou from Lille?

Ex Chelsea star Salomon Kalou, who is currently at French outfit Lille, could end up at the Boleyn ground if reports from the Daily Mirror are to be taken seriously.

Apparently, West Ham are plotting a £2.5m move for the Ivorian although the ex Chelsea went to Lille on a free transfer. Now the French club want the Hammers to pay for him! Sounds a little desperate to me to buy a player who was originally a Bosman!

Kalou had a nice little spell at Chelsea and the player is 27 years old. He also found the net 16 times for Lille since he arrived. Something tells me he would have stuck a load more in for Chelsea had he been used more.

He came from the Premier League and will be right at home if the Hammers do happen to land him, so there’s no issue there.

David Gold mentioned on his Twitter account that West Ham United are not interested in Remy – hardly surprising as the player has a rape case coming up! Celtic’s Gary Hooper looks set to join Fulham, so Salomon Kalou may be a good alternative for the Hammers.

One thing that may tempt Kalou to take a trip across the English channel is that Lille finished sixth in the French League, so no European football to look forward to. Also, the French outfit is in a state of uncertainty, as they have just lost their manager, Rudi Garcia to italian giants, Roma.

Kalou has the ability to operate on either flank or even a front man, something that Big Sam could add to his arsenal as Andy Carroll is likely to miss out on the start to the season coupled with the missing out of Duvan Zapata due to work permit issues.

What do the fans think – would Salomon Kalou be a welcome addition to the Irons?

About Stevo

Stevo can remember going to games with his Dad and seeing the likes of Clyde Best of all people. He also has a few mates who have “done” complete seasons too – and that was when the Irons were in division one. That’s every home and away game – unbelievable! Stevo plans to do this himself next season!

Kalou would be great but we also wanted neymar Beckham ronaldino Zapata bony and uncle tom cobbly and all and we end up with loan deals and old past it players getting another pay day no one else go for. Who in their right minds would want to come to our club playing under same one up system unless silly money is mentioned and the tight board won’t pay that out of the enormous sky money, so let’s see if kalougets a better offer while the austerity boys hang around with the wwage sheet.

  2. sounds like the right man

Decent player but why are we always linked with this player that player and we seam to alot of the time to miss out come on guys sort it out and quick

  4. Think he would do a good job. Wasn’t JC at Lille? Perhaps he put a word in for Kalou?

He’d be a good signing IMHO. Would settle quickly too. Not sure where the rumour’s come from, and if it’s a reliable source, but Kalou would be a big improvement on what we had last season (Piq, Chamakh, Cole (who I love to bits for his effort but just couldn’t see him ever scoring more than 1 in 4) etc)

  6. A useful player that can score in the premiership, but would it not be better just to read that we had the player. By telling everyone has to cast a shadow over this one, if they really wanted him they wouldent tell anyone, common sense goes a long way

  7. Yes i would love kalou at upton park proven epl quality
this is a nice piece of news lets just hope we do the deal quick
