Born: 3 July 1988, North Shore, New Zealand
Former clubs: SUB Sonderborg, FC Midtjylland
Bio: A tall, quick and powerful defender, Winston Reid started all three of New Zealand’s matches at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, scoring in the All Whites’ 1-1 draw with Slovakia.
Comfortable at right-back or centre-back, Reid moved to Denmark at the age of ten, representing the Scandinavian nation at U19, U20 and U21 levels before switching international allegiance to the country of his birth in early 2010.
After five years of first-team action at FC Midtjylland in Denmark, the 6’3″ player moved to West Ham United in August 2010.
Reid has improved considerably under the tutelage of manager Sam Allardyce and was outstanding for West Ham in their first season back in the Premier League, picking up the Hammer of The Year gong to boot.
