Sofiane Feghouli signs for Galatasaray

It was being heavily rumoured in the papers for the last few weeks, but today, West Ham have officially confirmed the transfer of Algerian winger Sofiane Feghouli to Turkish giants Galatasaray. Feghouli has moved for an undisclosed fee, reported to be around 4.2 million euros, and has put pen to paper a five year deal in Istanbul.

Feghouli is the latest in the long list of players the Hammers signed last year (2016), but have let go this year- other names on that list being Ashley Fletcher, Havardt Nordveit, Simone Zaza, Jonathan Calleri, Gokhan Tore and Alvaro Arbeloa. [Read more…]

Key moment Video Feghouli open goal miss vs Man City in the FA Cup

Well, this was a rather depressing game to watch, more so the second half. However you probably can’t blame the players- they were 3-0 down at the interval and conceded one more shortly after coming on.

The first half was certainly better than the second, but this open goal miss from Sofiane Feghouli was a key one- it would’ve been an equaliser after conceding a soft penalty through Ogbonna. Unfortunately for the Algerian, he failed to convert his chance and it was pretty much down hill after that. West Ham’s heads dropped, David Silva ran the show and three more goals were scored in quick succession, and John Stones added a late fifth to complete a comprehensive win for Pep Guardiola’s side [Read more…]

Sofiane Feghouli ban rescinded | Can play against Man City on Friday

West Ham midfielder Sofiane Feghouli will not be required to serve a three game ban and is free to play against Man City on Friday in the FA Cup after the Football Association overturned his red card. Feghouli was sent off 15 minutes into West Ham’s 2-0 loss against Manchester United by Mike Dean for his “challenge” on Phil Jones.

While it’s good that his red has been overturned (check the video below for his dismissal), it’s a bit frustrating for West Ham fans that it cannot alter the result of the game- one where they started well and then had to play 75 minutes one man down.

West Ham have also now had four of their last five red cards rescinded by the FA- not a stat that makes for happy reading at all! [Read more…]

West Ham’s Sofiane Feghouli not included in Algeria’s 23 man AFCON squad

West Ham’s Sofiane Feghouli will not be featuring at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations after Fennecs coach George Leekens chose to leave him out of his final 23 member squad.

Three England based players- the Leicester duo of Riyad Mahrez and Islam Slimani and Watford’s Adlene Guedioura have been included.

Algeria are in Group B for the tournament alongisde North African rivals Tunisia, Senegal and Zimbabwe. [Read more…]
